Apple has just introduced a brand new iPad Air that will has been available for pre-order since Friday 11 March, with delivery from Friday 18 March 2022. While it’s unlikely that there will be any significant discounts on this new model, its introduction is likely to mean that the deals for the previous generation iPad Air will become more abundant!
The Air remains incredibly popular and is an excellent halfway house between the entry-level iPad and high-end iPad Pro – ideal for those who need some extra power, but don’t want to spend hundreds of pounds on a device that may not replace their laptop.
Best iPad Air deals right now
So far only KRCS in the UK is discounting the 2022 iPad Air (5th gen):
- Get the 2022 iPad Air, 64GB Wi-Fi for £557.62 (RRP £569) from KRCS.
- Get the 2022 iPad Air, 256GB Wi-Fi for £704.62 (RRP £719 from KRCS.
- Get the 2022 iPad Air, 64GB Cellular for £704.62 (RRP £719) from KRCS.
- Get the 2022 iPad Air, 256GB Cellular for £851.62 (RRP £869) from KRCS.
UK deals:
A number of resellers in the UK are discounting the 4th gen iPad Air from 2020:
- Amazon and Currys have the 2020 64GB iPad Air for £499. That’s £80 off the original price.
- Amazon also has the 64GB Cellular iPad Air from 2020 in Space Grey for £499. That’s £210 off the original £709. A really good deal!
- You can also get money off the higher capacity models. For example, Amazon has the 256GB Wi-Fi only model for £629 – that’s £100 off the original price. But for just a few pounds more you can get the 256GB Cellular model from Amazon for £649, which is £210 off the original price.
- Currys has the 64GB cellular 2020 model for £619, £90 off the original price.
US deals:
A number of resellers in the US are discounting the 4th gen iPad Air from 2020:
- Amazon has $100 off the 2020 iPad Air 64GB WiFi – get it for $499 (RRP was $599).
- Walmart and Amazon has $100 off the 256GB Wi-Fi iPad Air 2020 for $649.99 (RRP was $749)
- Amazon also has money off the 64GB Cellular model from 2020, get it for $669.93 (was $729)
- Amazon and Walmart also has money off the 256GB Cellular model – get it for $799.
What you need to know
In 2021 we saw Apple introduce a new iPad mini (6th gen), iPad Pro with M1 and new iPad (9th gen), but the iPad Air was untouched… until March 2022 when Apple introduced the iPad Air (5th gen).
The new iPad Air has a M1 chip, just like the 2021 iPad Pro; an improved 12MP Ultra Wide front camera with support for Centre Stage (compared to the 7MP FaceTime camera on the older model); 5G. The colour finishes are a little different to the previous generation too: Space Grey is joined by Pink, Starlight, Purple and Blue. Other than the colours the design and other features haven’t changed – it still has a 10.9in display.

How to get an education discount on iPad Air
Apple offers students and staff in higher education discounts on the iPad Air in its Education Store.
Apple isn’t the only retailer that offers student discounts, however. In the UK KRCS offers up to 10% off for qualifying students.

If you’re after the cellular model and want to buy it on contract, here’s where to look:
- O2 – Get up to 6 months of Disney Plus (or 12 months of another streaming service); plans start at £28 per month, £20 upfront for 1GB data
- Vodafone – starting from £38 per month, £100 upfront for 2GB data
- EE – Get 4GB data for £42.50 per month, £100 upfront – existing customers get 10% off
- Sky – Currently out of stock, but usually has the best price on the market: 2GB of data for £22 per month and no upfront cost (36 months)
